Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

The department was constituted in the year 1965 as the Department of Operative Dentistry. The first Head of Department was Dr. V. Subramoniam (also Director) on deputation from Govt Dental College, Bombay. Dr. M.K. Mani was the first faculty (Demonstrator). MDS in Operative Dentistry was started in the year 1966. First batch of MDS students were Dr. E.K. Parameswaran Nair and Dr. George Eipe (Health service). 1n 1968, following the departure of Dr. V. Subramoniam, Dr. M.K. Mani took over as HOD. Two stalwarts of the department, Dr. E.K. Parameswaran Nair and Dr. G. Ramachandran were from the first batch of B.D.S and joined service as demonstrators in 1963 and 1964 respectively.

1965. Undergraduate clinic gets 20 dental chairs. 4 chairs in postgraduate clinic

1966. First phantom head laboratory

1980. Air rotor introduced

1984. MDS seat enhancement from 2 to 4

1996. Second phantom head laboratory

1998. Separate PG clinic

2000. Renovation of PG and UG clinics

2008. Installation of first surgical microscope

2009. 12 new dental units installed

2011. Installation of digital X-ray unit

2014. Third phantom head laboratory

2016. Renovation of PG clinic with air-conditioning

2018. Installation of second surgical microscope

2019. Initiation of microsurgery unit

2019. Renovation of UG clinic
